If an ant could talk. . .

(Note: “You” in the following is used as a general reference.)

If an ant could talk what would he say?
Just what would be his perspective of his day?

When he’s below he must look ‘round and see…
Seems like some kind of tunnel it must be.

But when he ascends from inside the turf…
What is his perspective about the whole earth?

He must look up to see some behemoth things…
A man, the sky, and whatever else his view brings.

What does he know about such surrealistic things?
So different, so strange…some even have wings!

Then he returns to his safe dwelling below…
He goes back to his tasks that he instinctively must know.

And so his vision of life to him is not the same as to you.
Your perspective of life you believe to be true.

But a question or two I must pose…
Do you really know what you think that you know?

Where is the earth in relation to space?
How far is the big fire above in that place?

Can you tell me if you know?
What your seeing when you look down below.

What are those things you see below your feet?
What makes up the grass, the asphalt, the ant, and the street?

Think about how much you really know…
About math, science, structures, and even your foes!

What is bacteria, a virus, a germ?
Or are you one of the ones who are mostly unconcerned?

But if I ask you about all the things you watch on TV…
Could you respond in an instant remembering all that you see?

If the answers to the above are unknown as you look…
Maybe it’s time to pick up a book.

But then again an ant seems to get by with the things that he knows…
So if what you’ve just read you really don’t care…good luck to you then, you’ll just know what you know.
