Birds of Lake Pine
A poetic aphorism
By Ron Lee Stewart
The Mallards are very shy,
Catfish are tenacious.
The cormorants swim very fast,
small fish must swim faster.
The Great Blue is a Royal bird,
ordinary Ducks are simple.
The Blue Jays are a curious lot,
Mockingbirds are ferocious.
There is also one thing at the lake,
something called the core.
If it wasn’t for God’s True Love,
there would be no more.
